A well attended Presentation Night was held at our new meeting
place, Birchfield Park Sports and Social Club, where we were
made to feel very welcome, including two complimentary bottles
of wine. Members brought a dish for the buffet. We have some
excellent cooks, Joanne's cheesecake and Kris' fairy cakes
stand out in particular.
Linda Moore, our chairperson, gave a short talk on two
inspirational women runners; Roberta Gibb, first woman to run
the Boston Marathon in 1964 when it was still considered
impossible for women to run 26.2 miles and Rosie Swale Pope,
a grandmother from Wales who recently ran around the world.
It was then time to reward our own inspirational women runners.
Our trophy winners, Kelly, Barbara and Lesley and all members
who achieved standards.
